1917 Type 1 Standing Liberty Quarter (Full Head)
The Type 1 Standing Liberty Quarter features the original design with Liberty's exposed breast, which caused public controversy. Mid-year in 1917, the design was modified (Type 2) to cover Liberty with chain mail. Full Head examples command significant premiums.
2004-D Wisconsin Quarter Extra Leaf High
Discovered in late 2004 in Tucson, Arizona. An extra leaf appears on the corn ear on the reverse, pointing upward. The origin is debated, with theories ranging from die damage to intentional die modification by a mint employee.
2005-P Kansas Quarter "In God We Rust"
One of the most famous and humorous US mint errors. Grease buildup in the die cavity for the letter T in TRUST causes the motto to appear to read 'IN GOD WE RUST.' The error gained widespread media attention.
2004-D Wisconsin Quarter Extra Leaf Low
Found alongside the Extra Leaf High variety, this error features an extra leaf pointing downward on the corn ear. Both varieties were struck at the Denver Mint and caused a collecting frenzy when discovered.
1999-P Connecticut Broadstruck Quarter
One of the more common State Quarter errors. The coin was struck without the retaining collar, allowing the metal to expand outward. The result is a wider-than-normal coin with a smooth edge instead of the usual reeding.
